Tracy Criswell
Tracy Criswell is a stay-at-home mother of four, ages two to nine. Prior to becoming a stay-at-home mother over a year ago, she was a special educator. She has taught students with special needs for over nine years; two years as an elementary self-contained with inclusion teacher, five years as a middle school special education teacher, and two years as a moderate/severe/profound or Level 3 high school special education teacher. Even though she began staying at home with her four children during the fall of 2008, she has taught elementary students with special needs for the past two summers. She hopes to continue to do this until all of her four children attend school full-time. It allows her to have the best of both worlds; be at home with her children during the school year and teaching during the summer months.
Not only did she keep busy with her life at home and work, she became a freelance writer for the website Lestout.com. She was a freelance writer for Lestout.com from December 2007 to June 2009. Her experiences as a mother and special educator allowed her to provide her readers useful information on wide array of topics from key information parents of children with special needs to know to arts and crafts activities for children. In addition to these experiences, she was also able to apply her knowledge related to special education from her undergraduate and master's degrees in special education from the University of Northern Iowa. Even though she is a stay-at-home mother, she continues to have a current teaching degree in special education which certifies her to teach children at all grade levels and all degrees of needs.
People always ask her which grade she loves to teach and her reply is, "All." She simply enjoys teaching all students at all grade levels and watching them grow; just like her four children.
